Police Department To Add Extra Patrols To Neighborhoods Without Power

Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS he has added additional patrols to keep an eye out on the neighborhoods which still have not yet had power restored. With many residents staying with other family members for the weekend, the Chief wanted to ensure resident feel more secure knowing extra officers are out there keeping an extra eye.

However, the Chief strongly urges residents to take the basic precautions of ensuring that all windows and doors are properly secured prior to leaving their homes.

The Chief says there were an estimated 16 burglaries following the Hurricane because burglars took advantage of the lack of electricity. However, that number was significantly down in the last few days following the arrest of a prolific serial burglar, the Chief says.

If you are going away for the weekend, it may be a good idea to take along your jewelry and other valuables. TLS.

  1. ^^^Yea, because the police should be posted in front of your house 24/7..there were way more than usual patrols out..so why don’t you stop complaining and say “THANK YOU”..these men and women have been going non-stop over the last two weeks and all you can do is complain..if you can do it better, sign up, strap on a gun and body armor and jump in there…BUT, somehow I think that YOU would be running from the danger, while these fine officers run towards it..thank you and have a nice day!

  2. #3- they get paid to do their job
    they do not volunteer-
My neighborhood was 90 percent empty and eerily quiet (and dark)-
As for me doing their job, I did walk around my neighborhood a few times during the night and wee hours of the morning…. Didnt see any cops-
I volunteered plenty in different neighborhoods as well as having 2 extra families living by me…. Don’t lecture me-

  3. Hey aloofknaz, I’ll lecture you all I want, it’s people like you that expect the police to be everywhere all the time, and can’t wait to complain the first chance you get!!…and you walked around your neighborhood???…wow…would you like some cheese with your WHINE???

Hey Lecturer … which part of ” No power and zero patrols spotted over Shabbos” didn’t you understand ? It was the same in our neighborhood . It’s ‘people like you’ who don’t understand anything.

  5. Lakewood should be proud of all those who have nothing else to do but complain, complain, complain ~ if anyone has a right to complain its those who have lived here long before this town was turned upside down with building on every square inch of land!!!!!!

  6. Thanx LPD you did a great Job in Westgate!!!!!!! Everybody else next time you see an officer give them a thank you for a change these guys really worked hard for us all!!!! And on the same note if you a utility worker you can give them a thumbs up too they do deserve it!!

  7. Sue, did you sit on your front porch for 24 hours a day for those 8 days and not sleep a wink? If so, you’re amazing, please tell me how to do it. Unless you did not sleep for 192 hours, you cannot tell me you know for a fact that no police were in your neighborhood.
