A sound that many residents in one area in Lakewood thought was a gunshot by police, was in fact a ‘distraction device,” police said.
Residents in the Manetta Avenue and East 4th Street area contacted TLS saying they heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from police on Friday night.
But police told TLS there were no shots fired, but that they did make use of a ‘distraction device’ during the execution of a search warrant in the area, and it’s possible for people to confuse it for a gunshot.
These operations are generally conducted by Lakewood’s SRT team, and will for obvious reasons not notify residents prior.

Why in the world would you call TLS if you hear gun shots all you should do is call police
Would He Have Been Pro Guns ???
40 plus years ago on the long summer evenings, some italian youths used to drive by the Yeshiva and throw rocks at the windows.
A couple of the bochurim [ my father included] desired to make a ‘vigilante’ group to be prepared to confront and stop them.
R’ Shmuel Berenbaum told them emphatically: “no”
Why?

If you use knives ,they’ll subsequently respond with guns..
If you use guns ,they’ll subsequently respond with bombs….It’s not for us to attempt to use Eisav’s methods.”

Well maybe the lakewood police can do something about the drug dealers infesting the south side areas . They totally ignore the issue. These drug dealers are so brazen they will do thier business in front of anyone. They have no fear of the police.
