Police: Lakewood Resident Charged With Home Burglaries – May Be Responsible For Most Rear-Entry Home Burglaries

arrested_by_lpdA Lakewood man was charged with burglaries and other charges after being arrested on Monday by Lakewood Police, Detective Lieutenant Paul Daly tells TLS. J. McDaniel, 21, of Lakewood, was arrested after police spotted his vehicle leaving the scene of a burglary on Ponderosa Drive on Monday.

Police arrested the vehicle’s one occupant after he was found to be in possession of stolen property and his snow-covered shoes matched the footsteps leading to the home.

The suspect, a black male, who was staying at a condo off of Route 88, was charged with two burglaries Daly said, but may be connected to other burglaries as well.

“We belive he’s responsible for the majority of rear-entry burglaries”, Detective Liutenant Paul Daly said, but Detectives are still identifying the property.

Police are still trying to figure out if he acted alone or there are others involved too.

“He has not been very helpful to police”, Daly said.

Since being arrested, home burglaries have dropped, Daly said.

Arresting officers were Ptl. Mike Marzocca and Ptl. Kevin Doyle.

McDaniel was charged with two burglaries on Ponderosa Drive, Fencing (dealing with stolen property), possession of stolen property and possession of a knife.

He is being held at the Ocean County Jail on $60,000 bail. TLS.

  1. He is not the one fron ridge avenue thus week who tried to enter a group of homes but was able to hide from police and was picked up by a minivan when police left. That person nay have been hispanic.

  2. This guy goes around breaking into homes with a knife! And he gets 60k bail?????? He’s dangerous!!!0do we need to wait till he kills someone to keep him in jail???

  3. Hey #2 if you know he got into a minivan why didn’t you get the plate number and description for the LPD. That would have been more helpful then telling everyone on TLS days later.

  4. Dear Mama #3 Unless he’s a big-time fence and/or also a drug dealer he won’t raise the $60K . As long as there’s a market for the swag, these low-lifes will take the risk.

  5. the question is the person who saw this should have called the police when they saw it. BUT AT LEAST THEY CALLED The fact is the person decided to call the police in the morning to report the suspicious activity. But there was confusion as the police had stated they caught the burgular. After calrification and investigation it was determind that there are more than one burglar and this one was hispanic and other features that did not match the one caught who DOES match the description of the other burglaries.

A NUT WOULD GO OUT AND TRY TO GET A LIC PLATE AT NIGHT- THAT IS NOT PLAYING IT SAFE AND SMART.

YES – EVERYONE MUST CALL POLICE!!!! PART OF THE REASON THE POLCIE KNOW WHAT THEY KNOW IS BECAUSE PEOPLE CALLED!!!!! EVEN IF YOU REALIZE HOURS LATER-CALL!!!!!

THE POLICE NEEDS THE COMMUNITY INVOLVMENT AS EYES AND EARS. BUT DON’T ATTEMPT TO APPROCH THE CRIMINALS OR PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER!!! IF YOUR NOT GOING TO CALL DONT BLAME THE POLICE.

IT MAY TAKE MANY TIMES TO CATCH THE THIEF BUT IT MAY BE YOUR CALL THAT MAKE THE DIFFRENCE>

  6. “is staying at a condo off rt 88” HELLO LAKEVIEW!!!!!! hes our next door neighbor, theres no other condo complex off rt 88,which makes sense why we were first.

  8. Ty lpd great job! Who do you think owns this thieves house? WHY SHOULD THE WHOLE LAKEWOOD SUFFER SO THAT 5-10 SLUM LORDS MAKE A LIVING?!?!?!!!?!?!

  9. To #3 Mama ” do we need to wait till he kills someone to keep him in jail???”

The system has to offer him and others arrested bail,,,depending on the offense/s and other factors.

I assume that if you were arrested, you would want to bail out- I know I would.

I’ve got no way to know what someone will do in the future,,,do you?

I’m hoping this will cause him to change careers.

Each of us should be more careful of who we vote for,,,some vote for folks that promise handouts,,,others vote for those tough on crime and defender of individual rights.

Never vote for a person that will take away or undermine any of our Constitutional rights- especially the right to protect yourself family or domain.

These punks know most folks won’t attempt to protect themselves because politicians have told citizens that it’s wrong and have taken away your right to self defense. Vote for folks that believe in your rights.

Enjoy the rest of today and smile.

And remember… the citizens are the ears and eyes of the police department- get engaged.

  11. there are more than one person who is breaking in.

Its time we took a stand.

lets start our own block watches….

YOU MUST LIGHT UP YOUR HOMES FRONT BACK SIDES….
