Police Investigating Another Case Of Mail Theft

Police are investigating after another resident had his mail gone through over Shabbos. The resident tells TLS he woke Shabbos morning to find his mail box open and noticed that a tax return envelope had been opened, apparently in search of checks.

Two weeks ago, a homeowner had a Sheitel and checks worth thousands stolen from his mailbox.

Stealing mail is a federal crime which can carry prison time and hefty fine if convicted. TLS.

  1. It may be the school checking on his income status. Probably didn’t pay tuition, and claimed to be poor, and now the school wants to make sure that his tax return reflects accurately what he told the school.

    Happy Purim to all!!!!

  2. its really easy to steal mail in this town….maybe they should abolish the mailboxes at the curb and require mail slots directly into the house….i know that would mean harder work for the mailmen going door to door by foot and everyones gna cry that leads to higher taxes but i dont know, its done that way in brooklyn and im sure lotsa other places too, and it seems so much smarter in the long run

  3. You can put a locked mail box in the same place as your regular one. It would be more trouble for you, but less hassle for the mail carrier than a mail slot. It would mean that you’d still have to go out to get your mail and take a key with you besides. If you care about the safety of your mail, that shouldn’t be too hard for you.
