[SIGN UP FOR THE ALERTS HERE] Police Chief Rob Lawson this afternoon tested the Township’s new notification alert system, put into place by Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien. “This is a test of the Lakewood Township Notification System”, the test message read. “Thank you for participating and please encourage your friends and family members to also enroll for notifications at http://www.lakewoodnj.gov/
The system was put into place for the safety and convenience of its residents way ahead of this year’s wintery weather forecasts.
Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein is advising residents to sign up for township alerts, a progressive way for the town to communicate with its residents.
“We are offering residents a way to sign up for township alerts in specific areas of interest, not only for snow-related situations but for emergency and traffic alerts, school closings, township announcements and events, power outage updates, announcements from the DPW, or even requests for proposals. By using the alert system, residents could find out when to expect certain streets to be plowed or whether trash collection will take place in a part of town because of the snow”, Lichtenstien said. “Please keep in mind that the alert system is a work in progress. In other words, we’ll see how this system unfolds and how we can best use it to be in communication with our residents.”
The alert went out about 4:45 PM.
The Chief tells TLS there will be another test next week.

Another excellent idea by Meir thanks for all you do
I never got my bulk trash pickup Dec.14. I saw the truck fly down Medina road but never came up Medina Ct. I called three times.
Last year the town called my home phone with alerts without signing up. I just tried to signup for emergency alerts and can’t receive them because I don’t own a cell phone. Not all people can afford a cell phone.
