VIDEO MESSAGE: Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS that there will be zero tolerance for DUI on Purim. Driving Under the Influence of alcohol will be strictly enforced, and anyone caught says the Chief, will be arrested. The Chief added that they have not had any issues of such during past Purims, and he hopes it remains that way.
The Police Department together with Liasion Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien have arranged for crossing guards and light structures to be distrubuted in multiple locations around town. A full list will be published as soon as it becomes available.

DUI has never been an issue in the frum community. I would argue that the frum community are better and safer drivers then others. Those who insinuate otherwise just hate us.

I believe that last year the traffic pattern was from 11th and Lawrence towards 10th (in other words, turning on to 11th going 1 block until Lawrence and making a right turn until 10th).
It CANNOT be from 10th st. to 11th st, since Kol Shimshon has approximately 65 minyanim for Mincha (every FIVE minutes) and cars will be turning in to 11th in order to park and would be going the wrong way!
This would be a traffic DISASTER!
(By the way, don’t think that Mincha only takes 5 minutes c”v, there are 4 rooms with minyanim starting on a rotating basis).
So if anyone from the traffic dept and/or police dept is monitoring the scoop, please PLEASE correct this.

There is no data showing Jews are worse drivers. Obviously Lakewood is no different then any congested urban area. Besides, many low income residents (mostly due to the tax burden) purchase used and slightly dinged cars. Not to mention, Jews have other things to do on Saturdays besides polishing their cars.

I am sick of these unfounded, balantly anti Semitic, snide and cynical remarks about how the Jews in this town are rotten drivers, talk on the phone more than anyone els and care less about others than the Gentiles.
The roads in Lakewood are congested and frustrating but no different or worse than any other town or city with a comparable crowded population.
At least with the Jewish community we can worry less about DUI and violent road rage.

This Chief is a real “Mentch” I just realized how fortunate we are to have such a caring, understanding, decent person as a Police Chief. I just never put much thought to it. Thank You Chief Lawson for all!!!!

Mr Lawyer, I am a Jew! and a very proud one too. I think that some people really need to get a refresher course on how to drive. If you think jumping stop signs, running red lights, backing up without looking, parking wherever they wish (ie: drive ways, Yellow lines) and talking on the cell phones, is ok I think your licence as a lawyer should be checked out!
Mr Lawyer the majority of sane people Jew and nonjew agree the driving in Lakewood is horrendous . I have never seen in another town people turning left when they have their right blinker on and vice versa . I do not want to be around when you are driving !!! Please post a message to alert us .
