Police Chief Rob Lawson says Lakewood and the rest of the State is under a State of Emergency, which means drivers should stay off the roads. “Stay off the roads”, the Chief said strongly. “Only essential personnel should be driving now”.
Additionally, says the Chief, do not call the police unless it is absolutely urgent. As it is- despite the additional staffing – the dispatchers are overwhelmed and are dealing with severe calls.
“If it’s a medical emergency or there are wires down, call us, but do not tie up the lines for minor issues”, said the Chief.
The brunt of the storm is supposed to hit Lakewood after dark, the Chief says, into Tuesday. TLS.

I still see people driving maybe think a little
We gotta work to pay taxes to support and pay the police.

Safety first! Ths Garden State parkway is closed from 129 to 0 in both directions!! The GW bridge and the Holland tunnel are closed! Stay off of the roads!
Leave to roads clear for emergency personnel! Check out all of the closures before you think that your that important! and these warnings don’t apply to you!
People have lost homes due to flooding and fire- some structures have been swept out to sea! If you are safe right now (and maybe are only “suffering” with out power)~~~~ Keep yourself at home!!! No one needs to get in the way of help!
