Police Chief: Officers Did Home Checks All Weekend

lawson pesach msg 2012 tlsAfter posting about the Lakewood Police Department’s offer to check your home while away for Shabbos Chanukah, the LPD was flooded with calls, Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS.

The department received nearly 100 calls from residents who wished to have their homes checked on while they were away on vacation, the Chief says.

“The officers were hopping from one to the next all weekend,” the Chief said.

There were no burglaries in the monitored homes, the Chief says, and there was only one report of a burglary over the weekend at a residence to which the doors were left open.

The Chief also thanked TLS for getting the word out about the offer, which was announced prior on a robo call but prompted no call-ins to the LPD.

We really appreciate your efforts and tremendous devotion to keeping this town safe! It was way above and beyond what any town anywhere would do for their residents!

  5. Unreal that personal houses were checked. Officers had to check 100 houses???? How did this leave time to check the rest of the town??? They had to go house to house? Unbelievable

  6. I appreciate our Lakewood police force especially Chief Lawson. However since it says “Al tiftechu b’nidivim” I decided to place my trust in Hashem and my mezuzos when I went away this past weekend.
