Police Chief: Make sure Your Home Alarm has a Battery Backup

chief lawson video messageWhile police continue to investigate the recent rash of burglaries, the Police Chief had some wise advice to share – which could help scare off burglars.

In many of the recent burglaries, the burglar, or burglars, weren’t even faced with an alarm.

And even in homes that contained alarms, the burglar – in some cases – was able to defeat the alarm by simply pulling the plug or cutting the power.

“Make sure your alarm system has a battery backup,” Police Chief Rob Lawson said. A battery backup would allow the system to continue to function, even if the power was pulled or cut.

Another option to be considered, for those ready to invest quite a bit of money, is to install a surveillance system that can be remotely monitored and backed up.

The Chief says they are heavily working on the recent burglaries, but cannot elaborate on the specifics of the ongoing investigations.
