William Addison), the one remaining Captain on the Lakewood Police Department will be retiring today, just one day after Sergeant Larry Patterson retired.“It’s a tremendous tremendous loss for the department”, Police Chief Rob Lawson when Mooney filed for his retirement, as earlier reported. “He was a superb Supervisor and will be sorely missed”, he says. “It’s no exaggeration when I say he will be missed, personally and professionally”, the Chief said. “He did a fantastic job for the agency”.

Captain Mooney, 53, has been promoted to Sergeant 23 years into his job, and to Captain, about two years ago.

“We appreciate all his devotion to our organization and to the community in general”, says LCSW Captain Dov Kesserman. “We will surely miss him and wish him good luck”.

  2. There is a quote in this short article that goes like this ,”It’s no exaggeration when I say he will be missed, personally and professionally”. “He did a fantastic job for the agency”.

Sounds like there may have been some exaggeration within the last several months.

Capt. Mooney was without exaggeration the best supervisor in the LPD. That is the truth.

  3. Another murder today here in Lakewood , who in their right mind would be in favor of laying off 5 officers ?? I say we need to hire at leats 25 more and that might not even be enough the way things are going here!!!!!!!!!!

  4. So far Capt. Miick, Capt. Mooney, Capt. Dennis, Lt. Isnardi, Lt. Addison, Sgt. Rupp, Sgt. Rodriguez, Sgt. Patterson, PO Przewoznik, PO Bressan, PO Sheehy, PO Latyshev and a few I am probably forgetting have left over the past 18 months. I don’t think we have hired any in 2 years. Amazing that your budget is short and you cry poverty for the Twsp. Time to HIRE and PROMOTE. Can you say OVERTIME for everybody.

  5. There are more retirements coming!!!!!!!!!! This town is going to hell in a hand basket if something isn’t done. The crime rate will increase as the number of officers decrease especially if they lay off 5 officers at the bottom of the payscale mind you!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck Captain Mooney.

  6. Det John Stillwell is leaving on Wednesday after 30 yrs of police service!!!! We will miss you 205, as will the community of Lakewood.
And to think this town voted Christie into office. Now we are paying the price.

  7. A voice from the past
Mike Congratulations on your retirement. Lakewood Police got a great officer, while the US Air Force Security Police lost a great cop when you decided to leave. Good luck my friend.
