Playgrounds to Reopen July 4th in Toms River

Playgrounds in Toms River Township will reopen on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

Governor Phil Murphy announced Tuesday that playgrounds can reopen starting today.

Playgrounds in Toms River were closed in March in an attempt to stop the spread of Coronavirus.

The Department of Parks, Buildings and Grounds will routinely sanitize equipment and wipe down high-touch surfaces. Restrooms are open and will be sanitized more frequently.

The Township asks anyone who feels sick to stay home. Those using our playgrounds should follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus and maintain social distancing. We encourage frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer.

Signs will be posted at all entrances to the parks indicating the following Playground Rules:

Stay home if sick
Practice social distancing
Cover coughs and sneezes
Wash hands often
Avoid touching face
Wear cloth face-covering unless age or health concerns indicate otherwise

We know it has been difficult the past few months. We sincerely thank you for your patience and continued cooperation,” said Mayor Maurice B. Hill. “Please play and use the parks responsibly and have fun.”
