Where are the plows?
We’re any developments plowed yet? As far as I know, not a single development was touched. I believe the DPW has a policy to do developments last. This policy has got to go and we need to make our voices heard about this.
Was all of Lakewood done at least once yet?
Definitely more than a foot.
I measured 16 inches on flat areas on street.
Areas with drifts were over 2 feet.
Has anyone seen a plow anywhere in lakewood? Are that taking away our “curtesey plowwing” as well?
Why wasn’t Ridge done all Shabbos? With everyone off the roads all day, why didn’t they come?
14 street area side streets where not touched not only developments.
I don’t understand why there where no plows out all shabbos when roads where empty!
Now they say we should wait for plows before we move!
Raintree not touched yet
Why have none of the rt9 developments been touched??
While the other streets have been done 2 or 3 times??
Miller area–only county roads have been plowed by the county (not the twp)
Coventry is plowed!
We were plowed around 9:30 this morning, but a lot of snow fell since then…
WHERE ARE THE PLOWS????????????????? ARENT WE PAYING ENOUGH TAXES? Even Squankum Road was not plowed by midday today. This is outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
West gate and new central were plowed
Only the main roads west gate
Forest Park is being plowed
Seton circle has not seen a plow yet since the storm started over 24 hours ago. Only plows out are ocean county and state, maybe lakewood township is being shomer shabbos?
The township will start enforcing a two day Shabbos for some of you kvetches. Seriously folks. This was a major storm. Learn to live with it or move to Brooklyn.
(That was for all the people that respond to complaints about changes in Lakewood ” If you don’t like it then move”. Let’s face it, that’s probably where most of these entitled kvetches come from(.
Everyone stop complaining! They are doing the best they can! Have some patience and then say thank you when they’re done!
they had a whole shabbos with almost no one on the road to plow
Warren st plowed late afternoon. Thank you to driver as he took pride in his work and did a great job. Thank you.
Thanks to all the plow drivers who braved the snow to clear our streets! And to all those behind the scenes making it happen!
And what do you think they were doing the whole Shabbos? They are working hard!! Lakewood is big! Thank you so much!! We know you are working hard!!
Thank you so much to the plow drivers!!! A plow truck was stuck on our street for 45 minutes until he was rescued by a tractor and he did not complain for a minute!!! Just sat in his truck waiting patiently – maybe we should learn from him!! This is not a fun job and they are doing their best.
In a Hummer H2, and I can say driving is not good. Stay off the road unless you have a proper vehicle. Too many amature drivers are stuck and blocking the plows.
I saw plows on my regurgitation side street in the morning 3 or 4 times
Regular (non developement)
Thank you to the township for all that you are doing and continue to do!!
Plows will show up Monday morning at 9AM.
If you don’t like it, move back to Brooklyn.
Why plow development on Shabbos day? No ones going anywhere all day.
Many side streets are blocked by idiots who got stuck trying to drive.
I saw the plows in the Ridge area numerous times today. Come on everyone they are doing their best.
Why not look on the bright side, The township I am sure is doing what it can, And BARUCH HASHEM we have electricity so we can stay in our warm homes and enjoy warm food[ in my case my wonderful neighbors brought over food to me, Lets be thankful for all that we have here in our Warm Friendly Lakewood,
To all those saying not to complain- I strongly disagree. It’s completely ridicules that there hasn’t been one plow in my neighborhood since the storm started. There is no reason why I should pay for a service and not get it. I pay taxes and expect that I should at least get my roads plowed. This has nothing to do with the plow drivers to whom I say thank you. This is to all the officials in charge of these things. MAYER AND PUBLIC WORKS I MEAN YOU!!! You have a job. GO DO IT!
Plows came to new england village at 6 am shabbos morning.
Sommerset avenue by the villas was not touched
To all of you complainers. Why are you in such a rush to be plowed. There is no place to go. Sit back and enjoy your forced immobility. Play in the snow with your children. Share hot cocoa and just relax. Before you know it, you will be plowed out and your life will continue to rush along as usual.
West Kenedy was not plowed
The township can take the money from ticketing idiots driving tonight and buy more plows with it
When are sudestreets going to be plowed?
Sorry side streets. Buttell not plowed.
I live in New England village and not yet plowed!!!! Did they forget us?!
We were plowed early in the day! Before complaining, go check the neighboring towns. Jackson is terrible! The main roads in Lakewood are beautiful!
there was not a single plow in chesterfield since the storm started where are the plows
To all those saying not to complain, there is some history here.
In the past the Township has waited for it to stop snowing before plowing. By friday morning only the largest plows could be used.
If they were plowing theough Friday night, the smaller plows could have kept up.
Westgate was plowed continuously throughout the day! We watched the plow trucks get stuck numerous times and the drivers had to come out and shovel themselves out!
Kvetching or not, this is the most ridiculous thing ive ever seen, there is no reason for streets not being plowed. I have lived in lkwd for over 10 years. It seems taxes keep going up and services keep going down. Crazy!
Please don’t forget about sunset and James.
In NY they got closer to two feet.
And once you get plowed out you’ll be complaining about the traffic. Seems like the same personality. Always in a rush with no patience or tolerance.
So you sit for a little bit at home or in traffic..BIG DEAL!
You’ll get to where you have to go maybe leave a little bit earlier so this way you’ll be on time.
We understand that All the Plows (probably about 10!) are out and about, and the Plow drivers are working very hard. But, why are there so few in the first place. I mean usually it snows on this side of the world. Maybe we don’t need so many bored cops out there pulling drivers over for You name it! and instead should be using our hard earned tax money, for services that actually enhance our lives. Stay Warm.
Does anyone know someone with a snow plow who is available to plow a complex?
Maybe TLS can put together a group of numbors of people who snow plow
Driving on main roads in Lakewood beats Jackson and TR. please keep off the road if you do not have a good 4WD vehicle. I have seen a bunch of Suburbans spun out and stuck.
Comment above is right!
Spend some real quality time with your families and enjoy the real enjoyment of life….
We have power.
Hopefully everyone stocked up….
Sit back and have wholesome fun!
Be Grateful for all the good that we do have!
Coventry plowed and sidewalks.
Arlington plowed early morning. Thanks township and devoted workers!! But guess what, even though my street was plowed I bundled up and had an awesome snowball fight with my kids… So to all you kvetchers go put on a pair of boots and enjoy life. YOLA- You only live once!!!
To TLS Editor; Why wouldn’t you post my comment? I think its a fair comment, in addition giving credit where credit is due. Thank you!
a big thank you to the plow driver who plowed my side st. did a great job!
Did it snow in Coventry ?
The reason people are worried that their streets are not plowed even though there is nowere to go, has to do with safety. Currently many blocks are totally impassable and if God for bid there is an emergency there is no way that an emergency vehicle can get there.
All those people preaching about not complaining….
Who do you think you are??
I pay taxes.
I’ll decide what to do with my time…thank you…
Just BTW, to tell someone: ” If u don’t like it move back to Brooklyn ” is very low, crude, course, uncouth and, really, downright disgusting. This is an open forum. I’m sorry, if a guy is paying $13,000 is RE taxes, he has a right to complain. He’s just frustrated so he’s venting. Don’t judge him and don’t knock him. And just for the record, I pay over $13,000 in property taxes, I live on a side street off Princeton Av & we weren’t plowed and it bothers me. So I’m complaining. Thank you.
Coventry is plowed by a private company not by the township
Some people have to work tomorrow morning
Mostly county & state roads r plowed (County line / Squankum rd / rt 9 )
most of lkwd was not plowed and they had the hole shabbos to plow at least most of lkwd i dont live in a development & my neighborhood was not touched
Bottom line how much snow did lakewoos get?
Coventry is not plowed by the township
You shouldn’t be driving anyway. Stay inside go to sleep and I am sure that you will plowed by the morning.
I plowed thru a couple of hot teas. My kids plowed thru some hot cocoa and hot soup. We also plowed thru some chumash and gemara. Going to plow right thru my comfy pillows now…
Drake and white streets were not plowed even once since the storm started
For all you kvetching: come to AZ! It’s was a gorgeous 75 degrees today and we pay $1600.00 in taxes yearly! Enjoy the snow while it’s there!
Everyone is working hard and doing the best they can. From your house on your street, you cannot see the whole picture. They will get to your street and, if it is an emergency, they will get to you and save you or bring you what you need. The township and the volunteer organizations are really working together to continue to make this a great town with and without the snow.
I like that tda. Im gonna plow a third melave malka then another tea and then my pillows too. I kinda like plowing.
I literally can’t even
Please realize that just because you didn’t notice the plow on your street that does NOT mean that a plow wasn’t there. It only takes a couple of minutes to pass by your block. Plus with the winds blowing so fiercely, and the snow continuing to fall, a short time after the street gets plowed you can’t tell that it had been plowed at all.
For those who would like their street to stay plowed all storm just move to a main stre
i live in jackson the streets were plowed tons of times they had private contracters doing it was able to drive tonight streets are great move to jackson
High Street hasn’t seen a plow yet
Chateau park hasn’t seen a plow yet. I live nearby and pay 10k a yr for my stupid little property and no plowing!!
Ridge which is barely drivable even without snow, has not been plowed once since the storm started.
Who cares. Just sit and enjoy.
I know he called in,but a plow is stuck on ventura drive in raintree.
Tiara is great, all plowed.
Thanks Mayor Miller!!
I work out of town and dont get paid if i dont work. We are poor and have a hard time making ends meet. Could the township please help out by plowing brookhill estates today. Thank you
I hope we will be able to get out and vote No to the 6,500,000 tax increase. FYI the notice came to late to vote by absentee ballot, for all those who are traveling.
I think there are general questions here about plowing ability, strategy, and policy in Lakewood. How many plows are there? When are plows sent out? Which streets take highest priority? How is priority set? What is the expected time frame for getting all of Lakewood plowed in this type of storm? Does anything need to change? If yes, is that policy, strategy, ability, funding, etc?
Folks, do the math. We have about 150 miles of roads in Lakewood. Figure a snowplow travels about 7-8mph. It would take ONE snowplow 20 hours to cover ALL of Lakewood. I’m assuming we have more than ONE plow truck here. 36 hours into the storm, and many of us have yet to see a plow pass by even ONCE.
From Wikipedia: As of May 2010, the township had a total of 193.15 miles of roadways; of which 135.26 miles were maintained by the municipality, 43.28 miles by Ocean County, 11.22 miles by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and 3.39 miles by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority
I’m sure a couple more miles were added since 2010, but most of the roads were already here since 2010, so to be generous, let’s assume the township is responsible for 150 miles of roads.
EDIT: We have closer to 200 miles but the township is only responsible for about 150 miles.
I hope Menasha Miller or anyone in the Township is reading this. Moshe hassan from village park is making a wedding tonight in Brooklyn. All the guest from the afruff including the father of the kallha are stuck in village park. Please have the plows and tractors take care of village park asap. A concerned person
How does anybody know they are doing the best they can? Maybe they are not? Why should we blindly believe?
If so many streets in so many sides of town were not done the whole shabbos, we have to suspect the motivation of the township to actually get things done.
Lakeview has yet to see a plow! The township plowed Boulder since it’s a township road around 1am and no private plow showed up yet…why do I pay HOA fees?
Still no sign of a plow on Sommerset avenue
New England village STILL NOT PLOWED!!! It’s Sunday morning already!!!
This is getting ridiculous! I am not someone who complains and I understand Lakewood has a lot of streets to plow with limited amount of manpower however it is 36 hours after the storm began and streets have yet to see a plow. This is dangerous in case of any emergency- people would have to meet an ambulance at the nine bec none of these developments have been plowed.
Is there any number to call or text to inform the city of the streets that still need plowing
Who can you call if street wasnt plowes yet??
Ashley Avenue between Wynatt and Lincoln has not been plowed once. Doesn’t the township due the basic research to know how important that block is to all the local traffic. How could they plow MLK and Arlington before doing Ashley Avenue?
Raintree has yet to see a plow. Disgusting. Yes, a whole Saturday with no cars on the road, we all should have seen at least one go around. Depressed wondering where our tax dollars may be going…
It is mind boggling that the town plows managed to come down Wynatt Saturday morning and did not plow Ashley Avenue to Lincoln. It is as if the street doesn’t exist on the township map.
I am in Brooklyn and my street has not been touched.
At points there is over 2 feet of snow.
Utter disgrace! Poor planning and lack of equip.
Not that I’m sticking up for anyone but the math above is wrong. 200 miles of road equals 400 miles as most are 2 way streets.
Also what is discussion worthy, should we plow everyone one? In such a storm that means no travel for (almost) everyone or do a good job on some street
Personally I think there is merit in doing main streets well then moving on. But since we all pay taxes I think it’s got to be a collective decision.
All the streets at Hope chapel rd and county line rd were not touch which includes but not limited to Malka way, Avis rd, addeledia rd, hope terr, st Katherine,
Presidential hasn’t been plowed yet, please help!
Maple ave wasn’t plowed
New Pine Acres has not seen a plow at all since the storm began. There’s 18 inches of snow on the road and many of the people here work Sundays.
