PHOTOS & VIDEO: Flanked by family and coaches, Lakewood High School football athlete Tyrice Beverette Wednesday afternoon signed a National Letter of Intent with Stony Brook University.
The Letter if Intent signs Tyrice for further education at the Stony Brook University, one of over a dozen colleges around the country who offered the star athlete a further education. Tyrice chose Stony Brook over the University of Delaware, the U.S. Naval Academy, Wagner College and a number of other prestigious universities.
Tyrice, currently excelling as a player on the Lakewood High School Varsity Basketball Team, was chosen as All State, All Shore, and top 100 player in the State of New Jersey for Football. Tyrice is also a member of the National Honor Society and is currently in the top 10 of his class, with a G.P.A. of 3.9.
It came down to the wire yesterday afternoon, when Tyrice had to choose between two colleges he’d narrowed his list down to. The other option was the University of Delaware.
In announcing the awaited decision, Tryice dawned a Stony Brook cap, which was followed by clapping and cheering from the approximately 50 people in the room.
Among those in attendance were the school’s coaches and other staff members, Superintendent Ms. Laura Winters and Board President Carl Fink. TLS.
