Two serious accidents on the Garden State Parkway snarled evening rush hour traffic both north and southbound, as reported on our news alerts.

The separate accidents both occurred in the area of mile marker 116.

On the northbound lanes, a vehicle overturned and landed on its roof, and in the southbound lanes a vehicle crashed through the median. A second vehicle was involved in the southbound accident, though it’s unclear if a second vehicle was involved in the northbound accident.

Lakewood veteran Hatzolah member Meir Lichtenstein, and Jersey Shore Hatzalah member Ike Massry both stopped to assist at the southbound accident.

Extent of injuries were not immediately available.

The Parkway is still backed up heavily, according to reports.
