A tree toppled onto vehicles, took down wires, and trapped people in a building this afternoon in Lakewood.
The incident happened about 1 PM at 235 River Avenue.
The toppled tree landed on at least two vehicles, and left wires strewn across the property andĀ trapped people inside a home and nearby business, officials said.
The power company was called to cut the power to allow the occupants out.
Luckily, nobody was injured.
This is the fourth tree falling that i have seen in Lakewood in the last two weeks, Perhaps we have had more damage from the winds and floods than we realize and people should be advised in ways to check their monster trees. We have b’h been fortunate so far, but this is really quite scary and b’h nobody got hurt.
This is the house I grew up in. My Children did , too. I am now 76 yrs. old. I left Lakewood in 1996 and moved to Hawaii for 15 yrs. I now live in Las Vegas.Joan O’Connell
The trees know the builders are taking them down eventually, they would rather go down with dignity.
