During the Lakewood Police Department’s annual awards ceremony Thursday night, officers were honored for their heroism, exemplary actions and going beyond their call of duty, making Lakewood a better and safer place to live during the year of 2015.
Awards were given for acts such as engaging a suspect armed with a gun, helping a woman deliver her baby, and even running into a burning home to save a pet.
Also during the event, five police officers were promoted.
Officer Pete La’rosa, Mike Lorenc, Mike Young and Mike Marzocca were promoted to Sergeant, and Officer Jim Finnegan was promoted to Lieutenant.
Officer Stephanie Campbell, a recent hire, was also sworn in last night.

Good looking group of individuals. Who is the guy on the phone in the last picture? Is he someone of importance?
Very important person… Lakewood finest #301
The guy with the phone is Captain Myers right hand man #301. He was probably sending the ok to a some sort of important deal. He is a very friendly school guy
That is School Resource Officer Patrolman Alex Guzman, who is one of the most active officers both on duty and off duty and is an integral part of this department. Alex goes above and beyond the call of duty for all of the citizens of Lakewood. The chief and captains are grateful for his service.
