A unique and historic visit took place earlier today in the home of the Gerer Rebbe in Yerushalayim when the visiting philanthropist Reb Yoel Landau paid a visit to the Rebbe’s abode. The two were joined by the Rebbe’s son, Harav Hatzadik Rav Nechemiah, shlit”a. In the course of a wide-ranging conversation, the two discussed the terrible “giyus decree” which hovers over the community in Eretz Yisroel, with yeshiva bochurim being arrested on a regular basis for their refusal to join the Israeli army.
Reb Yoel proposed the establishment of a new fund which will be devoted to coordinate efforts to fight the sanctions and the arrests of bochurim and yungeleit. The fund will provide legal assistance to them as they fight this terrible gezeirah, and the organization will work on all fronts to battle the persecutions of Charedi Jewry in Eretz Yisroel, and to ensure the endurance and the flourishing of the Torah world.
To this end, Reb Yoel pledged the astounding sum of $1,000,000 which he will be donating together with his colleagues and partners.
The Rebbe wished him great success in all his endeavors, and that the efforts he has initiated and undertaken should indeed see success.

Let’s just keep the titles within refined and proper wording- “R’ Yoel Landua of Satmar establishes fund……we do not know why in Shamayim some people have lots of funds while other do not….many well meaning people are all doing their Tafkid. We need to emphasis the objective of what is being done and not the financial status….in a time and place when so many are already suffering. TLS let’s do what’s right next time…
Striving,
I guess you view this as a HUGE ISSUE and hocking about it is the way to combat it?
I have another eitza which is sanctioned by the heilige chofetz claim who said “you can not chase away the darkness with sticks however if you light one candle that does the trick.
Every omein yehay shemai rabba with kavono or a dvar torah or a mishna learned is adding light which causes darkness to illuminate!
One needs to use Seichel when to apply that mantra. For example- If you see somebody speaking during חזרת הש״ץ would you avoid your responsibility of properly bringing awareness to the enormous issur taking place or would you rather wait to answer Amein Yehay etc. with Kavanah?……..
TLS itself has featured so many letters and content highlighting the overemphasis on “financial success” and its detrimental effects on the community especially the younger generation. If the intention here was the beneficial outcome- the title would’ve been different.
Beautiful. I just hope the Medina appreciates that yet another $1M was just funneled into their economy!!!:)
And that they should stop severely harassing yeshiva bochurim for something that makes absolutely no sense, is immoral (to draft); tens of thousands of soldiers have been maimed and killed in Gaza alone since “Oct. 7” – which makes absolutely no sense – to save maybe 150, some of whom were not even alive?!
Tens of thousands of irreligious get out of draft each year.
If the country calls itself Medinat Yisroel, they have to have Jews! The army was specially designed to make them unJewish!!!
Not debating your main point, just want to clarify that the IDF went into Gaza not only to save the hostages but to defeat Hamas, the source of the October 7 attacks and endless terror.
Nu, they did 11,000 strikes from the air by then, they couldn’t do a few more?
How do I get ahold of Mr. Landau or his gabbai tzidaka?
