By: L. Halevi. The Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Dovid Schustal Shlita was recently in Eretz Yisroel for a short visit. The Rosh Yeshiva had a very full schedule, as he met with various Gedolim and Rabbanim to discussed important issues that pertain to the Klal.
Besides for being one of the Roshei Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, a position that is time-consuming and filled with many responsibilities, the Rosh Yeshiva is also the Nasi of the revered organization, Kollel Shomrei Hachomos Rav Meir Ba’al Hanes, which has been serving Klal Yisroel for almost two centuries in various capacities.
The Rosh Yeshiva inherited this position from his venerable father, the late Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Binyomin in Stamford, CT, Harav Simcha Schustal Zatzal, who inherited it from his father in law, the saintly Mattestorfer Rav, Rav Shmuel Ehrenfeld Zatzal, a descendant of the great Chasam Sofer Zatzal, whose Talmidim were the founders of Shomrei Hachomos.
Despite his busy schedule on the short trip, the Rosh yeshiva insisted on visiting the Bais Medrash of Kollel Shomrei Hachomos in Yerushalayim, to meet with the Chavrei Hakollel who are sitting and learning with intense Hasmada, and to deliver a Shiur on the topics that are being learbt in the Kollel.
The Rosh Yeshiva then met with the Menahalim of the Kollel to discuss and review the Tzedakah and Chesed activities of Kollel Shomrei Hachomos, which cares for thousands of Mishpachos in Eretz Yisroel around the year. The Rosh Yeshiva was visibly impressed by the overwhelming amount of support that is given to Acheinu Bnei Yisroel in such a respectful and unassuming way.
The Rosh Yeshiva gave out Brachos to many of the Yungeleit and Hanhala before departing back to America strongly Mechuzak from what he witnessed in Eretz Yisroel.
