  1. The majority of the city of Toronto’s Mesivta age bochurim of the pst 33 years learnt by him in 9th grade at Reb Chaim Mendel’s Yeshiva.

He had the ability to teach shiurim of 40 bochurim at once -9th grade age- numerous times, and he withstood alone. Many of these were of the biggest heads coming out of Toronto and he dealt with them in ease and tuned them properly. Also, he has close Talmidim who are in their mid-40’s today all over. Think of that!

He put us all on our feet as Bochurim, and to him I credit much of my musogim of what a Yeshiva coming from a Mesorah really is and what we have to live up to as a bochur.

We can go on and on. For those that are seeking quality, talent, and for others it may be called “success”, he certainly has proven that for over three decades – without failure. Something that no other 9th grade can be complimented for, so I believe. At least not that kind of success.

I truly hope that Lakewood will have the wisdom to appreciate Reb Avremel shlita and all that he has to offer. He’s in a class of his own and I’m sure that his Yeshiva will as well be the same.

I haven’t exaggerated here. This is how it is and was.

His hatzlocha as a Menahel was legendary as well, but that can take allot more lines to write.

Our brocha is that he should be matzliach as he was up until now, 33 years without failure is a pretty good muchzokus!

Much success and ah gut yohr!

  2. No words can describe such a unique Rebbi! Just the right mix as to what a 9th grade bochur needed in 1989 and what one needs in 2023. So healthy, disciplined, knows how to connect and get through to each bochur. Was something to see as a parent of 6 boys. And knowing from others too. Rabbi Katz is a staple in any Yeshiva!

    • No truer words than these. I was with Avremel in Brisk. The most pleasant and positive individual in the Yeshiva by far. (This is pretty much right when RAY started out)

  3. No gimmicks, no bluff. The real thing. Began as a Rebbe as age 30 in the late 1989’s!! I guess Reb CM Brodsky saw something big in Rabbi Katz, and look far he’s gotten!!!
