PHOTOS: Pushkas vandalized at Lakewood Shul for second time this week

Pushkas (charity boxes) at a Lakewood Shul were vandalized for the second time this week.

Misapalleim at the Shul in the Route 88 area came to Shul to find the metal boxes pried open and emptied.

Police are investigating.

  1. It’s true they shod be emptied every day – and they usually are. But they still get broken into, sometimes. A solution can be a to get very thick ones. In Brooklyn they long since have that – it’s probably time here too; this is no longer a small town. This has happened numerous times already. When they did have surveillance cameras, they found that the thieves were coming in from other locations. Still, it’s difficult to have to go through finding them etc. (and sometimes they broke into them even in front of the camera!). Better to just get the super-strong pushkas which are a thick slab of metal that no crowbar can pry open. You can get one that has ten pushkas in one, so it can make it worth it.

  2. Kudos to LPD. They are a MODEL of community policing practices that should be emulated nation-wide. Thanks to all of the previous Chiefs and Captain and Liason Officers at least for the past three decades going back to Lynch, Lawson, Harry and so on. ALL great guys!
