  1. #2 i’m not sure who you mean by “we” but if you meant the police thats not what we need here a bigger police state, like its not bad enough! “Those who would give up Essential Liberty
to purchase a little Temporary Safety,
    deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

  2. If you’re meant to be shot, it can happen anywhere. More than 25 years ago the Lakewood police were chasing someone across my backyard, in a very quiet upper scale Lkwd. neighborhood, and they were shooting at him! I didn’t even know what a gun shot sounded like, but, when I heard the commotion, I looked out my window and saw police running across my yard, shooting at a man. My 4 yr. old was waiting outside for his ride to school. I quickly called him inside for safety. Hashem should protect us all!

  3. I’m not trying to blame the victims and this is all very scary, but this long time Lakewood resident was always shocked when we built develoments and houses in the absolute worst neighborhoods. Park AVe., Ridge Ave, MLK Drive were streets that we old timers always avoided or went through very warily. Of course we have to do our best to stop the crime, but why do we put ourselves in danger by plunking ourselves right in the middle of these neighborhoods that I still try to avoid? And if you do move there, you have to be aware that these crimes happen in these horrible kinds of neighborhoods!

  4. Oldtimer, I will take a stab at trying to make a little sense out of the situation for you. Houses and developments are built in the worst neighborhoods because the new residents moving in don’t expect the old residents to be there for long. I am sure you have recognized the pattern where a few new residents move onto a block and in a few years all the old residents are gone. This will happen on MLK too. Unfortunately the first movers have to suffer a little while until all the old people are moved out.
