By SJ. Despite the snow and cold weather, over 600 children were transported to a tropical island at Chai Lifeline’s Annual Purim Party at Ateres Reva Hall on Sunday night. All were greeted with an eye-catching display of palm trees, tikibar booths, hanging pineapples, and tropical flowers uniquely designed by Chavi Chase of Pret-a-Partee.
Children experienced a tropical climbing adventure on a custom made rock climbing wall and got to “travel the sea” in a thrilling boat ride. Carnival stations were set up along the perimeter of the room with a variety of games and booths catering to all ages. “I loved the facepaint booth! I got a butterfly,” said one excited participant. One craft station was led by the famous Rabbi Yisroel Braunstein, with an original project specifically designed for the Chai Lifeline children.
Families were served a full fleishig dinner buffet as they watched an exciting show by the Parrot Rebbi which included parrots flying overhead contributing to the authentic tropical atmosphere! Many parents echo similar sentiments of one mother, “My kids had a blast. I didn’t see them the whole night, they were having so much fun! I was able to sit and relax with friends, something I rarely get to do.”
The highlight of the party culminated in an original choir featuring over 20 Chai Lifeline children and their siblings led by Rabbi Ausfressor. Following the performance, each child left the stage feeling like a star!
Yehuda Green graced the stage with his presence, revving up the ruach and festivities while Chai Lifeline volunteers engaged the children with spirited dancing and singing. A big thank you to Shmuel Brudny and CM Schwartz for the musical arrangements.
Chai Lifeline wishes to thank Chaim Shmuel Bouskila, and Lakewood Chaveirim for helping to make the event a success.
