PHOTOS: Multiple people injured in pipe explosion off Seaside Heights

Three people were injured this afternoon after a pipe burst on a barge off Seaside Heights, officials say.

As first reported on our news alerts, emergency crews responded to the water after reports of an explosion.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the patients with severe injuries after a pipe burst.

“They were thrown between 25-50 feet,” an official on scene told TLS.

The patients suffered blast injuries, and extensive fractures, the official said.

They were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
