PHOTOS: Missionaries Back to Work in Lakewood

PHOTOS: Seems they’re not giving up. At least three misionaries were seen driving and walking around town this morning distributing missianic material.

The material being distributed to residences, is meant to appear Jewish with the Hebrew letters ‘Yisroel’ printed on them, but are actually containing literature and a CD from Tom Cantor and others.

The men were seen in various Frum neighborhoods around town, including in Brookhill, on Squankum and other areas. [TLS]

  1. Last time I checked I lived in a free land where there was freedom of speech and religion… on purim many jews share treats with non jews… and on Hannuka the same… why do people get upset when others share there faith… I pray its not deleted

  2. #3 sharing treats and pushing your belief’s on to others are WAY different. I respect your home and don’t come to preach, please do the same

I asked the gentleman not to target my home, after I went in HE PLACED it on my porch

    Have a wonderful day

P.S I live in the Ridge east 5th area

  3. i had somewhat the same observation , and i agree people should realize that freedom of religion and expression protects people , to express themselves and their religion in anyway as long as they are peaceful and not threatening. and it is very important to keep this in mind as all of us want others to respect our rights as well.

    however

    1. Going door to door can be rendered trespassing , i am not sure about Lakewood but many places have rules about entering private property of another to miss-ionize. If Lakewood has such an ordinance they can be arrested and charged with trespassing , religious freedom and freedom of expression does not give one the right to tress pass to express himself,

    2. the second paragraph which describes what they are doing does not take any issue with or have any problem with their freedom of speech and religion , rather it exposes them as frauds. using fraudulent covers ( such as using the name yisroel in Hebrew as a cover to work that is heretical to people of “yisroel” ) to try to get into someones home or property very well may constitute fraud . there is no protection for a crime like fraud under freedom of speech or religion

    3. the same amendment that allows them to express themselves allows the TLS to counter express their criticism of their actions . the same way no one can lawfully stop them and they have full rights to express themselves as long as the don’t tress pass and don’t commit fraud , the TLS has a right to expose or criticize what they are doing. saying that one has a right to express oneself but no one can counter them is total hypocrisy.

  4. hey let me tell ya , i am catholic. i went to st mary’s academy whick used to be at the corner of first and forrest! old time lakewood residents will remember. all that said i do not like when the come to my door, but i do not make a big issue of it., i just say no thank you and send them on their way. it is not a big deal everyone .

  5. Hey atleast their working on a job, and not living in a tent. So just ignore them, Lakewood must be a big challenge for them anyway.

  6. If they are trying to converted Lakewooders – man I think they came to the wrong spot. If you get really annoyed just glance at it and say you know this looks very interesting I have 15-20 friends I’d like to pass this around to. Then when they hand you all the pamphlets you can tear them all up and send them on their merry way

  7. they picked the wrong town but put that aside, it’s really no harm done. If you don’t want it just chuck it out like any other junk mail you undoubtedly receive. No need to be rude or disrespectful; these people are fully within their rights. Live and Let live!
