PHOTOS: Missionaries Back in Lakewood and Going Door-to-door

missionaries tlsMissionaries were back in Lakewood today soliciting Frum homes with their messianic material.

The missionaries were seen knocking on doors in several areas around town, and attempting to engage residents in talk about the messiah.

“Stop trying to force your religion upon me,” one resident wrote TLS with a photo of their material.

The attached women (here and here) were seen going door-to-door.

Multiple other missionary groups solicited Lakewood residents last summer, and summers prior as well.

  1. It happens every spring and summer..I got used to it over the years..just don’t answer your door or if you do..just tell them you are not interested, thank you and goodbye.

  2. I implore all the fine people in Lakewood ihr hatorah not to cave and convert to Christianity on the advice of some loser who walks up to your door rambling.

  3. To yossi,

Why are they losers. Because you don’t agree with them. I don’t agree with many parts of your religioun but I don’t feel you are a loser based on it.

  4. Religious groups are allowed to go door to door, you just need to tell them you belong to a church or temple and they will leave. There’s no forcing religion on anyone from them.

  5. @yossi. Maybe sensitivity training is needed for you!! Maybe you need to go to a seminar to help you understand people of other faiths. I don’t particularly like people knocking on my door to convert me to their religion but I politely tell them I am not interested. I don’t need you telling me “not to cave in” !! Maybe you should think about how “ANTI” your comment is portrayed. You wouldn’t like it done to your faith!

  6. Yes they are losers ,
They are targeting a community that is arguably the most religious in the state.
And they know that we belong to a temple ! Comon ! Lame excuse!
How about proselytizing to the disenfranchised in your own religion first !

  7. @megan I hear your point, however it apears a bit different here as it seems as though they are attempting to do it in an unsuspecting way. It isn’t as though they are announcing they are Christians. As shown in the picture, the pamhlet has Jewish and Messiah written all over it. It seems they are not doing it in a truthful and honest way

  8. Definitely rude. However, I wonder if they are deliberately targeting the Orthodox Jewish community or not. If so, that would be beyond rude and I’m not sure just telling them to do their business elsewhere would be enough.

  9. Megan, please excuse Yossi. He speaks only for himself. Every year o kindly say no thank you and they leave without a word. If only telemarketers were that easy to dismiss!

  10. Just put a sign up on your door no religious solicitation. Apparently these people think they have come up with something new in the last 2000 years. They should be informed in a civil fashion that we are not intereseted.

  11. I once nicely told them to leave and they just started screaming at me for a being a stupid Jew so i started arguing on they were saying and we got into a deep discussion they walked away looking really stupid. I’m not saying you should engage with them but they are definitely slyly targeting orthodox Jews.

  12. If we can be so easily swayed by some stranger coming to our door then I hate to say this but what is our chinuch worth if we are so weak that we would just cave in like that

  13. They know what they doing! Yes,we should respect other religions, but when we clearly see they are deceving people, its a whole different story. We Jewish people don’t go around and asking people to become one of us.if anything we appose to it.( if you know laws of geirus). So we are dealing with people who trying to do something bad to us, since if someone will go for it, they will call it-victory. Why go around in Lakewood , where big% of population is Jewish. Well they been doing this for many, many years…. So I think ,Yossi just trying to tell people that they should be careful, since missionaries sometimes very convincing.

  14. They are coming to Lakewood of all places to convert a crowd that is obviously already part of a religion. They send booklets masked as jewish when in reality they are not. I guess in that religion it is a big accomplishment when you get a Jew to come over to their side. They have to understand that most are not interested and that it is being done in a deceptive way. It’s very annoying to have someone trying to convert you at your doorstep. Judaism does not convert people into its faith and when they do the person has to really want it not just for marriage purposes. We are such a small nation as is .001 of the world population that they need to just leave us alone. We are a people that have been depleted in the Holocaust and with it comes a struggle to maintain it’s population. Leave us alone!

  15. A friend of mine told this missionaries that he feels very safe aand happy being Jewish here in Lakewood there are no Robberies or Murders or assaults commited by members of this community he offered to drive the missionaries to Jackson NJ to preach to them to make their community safer
