[UPDATED] PHOTOS: Menashe Miller Sworn in as Mayor, Albert Akerman as Deputy Mayor in 2016 Reorganization Meeting

2016 swearing in millerThe Township held its annual reorganization meeting this morning, swearing in Menashe Miller as Mayor, Albert Akerman as Deputy Mayor, and reaffirming both Menashe Miller and Committeeman Miller for another term.

Officials taking part in the ceremony and swearing in the officials, were Assemblyman Gary Schaer and Senator Robert Singer.

Also during the event, the Township made the 2016 appointments of liaisons and board committee members, and spoke about their goals for the new year.

Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, who serves as the liaison to Emergency Services, spoke about his commitment to ensure the town’s infrastructure and emergency services will be capable of handling the explosive growth in the town.

Deputy Mayor Albert Akerman spoke about the budget he helped keep flat, and said that 2016 is expected to see a flat budget.

Mayor Menashe Miller said he’s working to continue helping the homeless that remain around town from Tent City, and is also working on several different projects to enhance the town, including a mobile app to report street light outages and potholes.

The committeemen also thanked each other for their continued support of one another, and look forward to a happy and healthy 2016.

Following the meeting, well-wishers, family and friends gathered for a party at the Strand.
