Keeping New Jersey’s programs accessible to the state’s business community, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today addressed approximately 100 business owners at the New Jersey Business Action Center’s (BAC) Resources for Business Growth event held in Lakewood.
“Today, we bring Trenton to our businesses to share the resources and programs available to keep them growing in the Garden State,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno. “This ongoing dialogue is crucial to businesses of all sizes, and we have representatives here from government departments and industry partners eager to meet the unique needs of our businesses.”
The Lt. Governor and the BAC have hosted twelve previous Resources for Business Growth events throughout the state over the past several years, and additional events are being planned for the spring and summer.
Today’s event focused on manufacturing and exporting but welcomed businesses of all industries to meet with federal, state and county representatives and community partners to learn more about the resources available to New Jersey’s businesses. One such resource is the New Jersey State Trade and Export Promotion (NJ STEP) Program, which is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and provides sub-grants to small businesses pursuing opportunities for international export. In 2014, 42 companies received grants through NJ STEP that resulted in 24 new jobs and more than $3.6 million in actual export sales. In 2015, New Jersey’s grant award from SBA was increased to a total of $275,000. More information on the program can be found online at: http://www.nj.gov/state/bac/njstep.html.
Businesses considering a move or in need of assistance are encouraged to call New Jersey’s Business Action Center at (866) 534-7789 or visit the State’s Business Portal at www.newjerseybusiness.gov.
Senator Bob Singer, Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller and Committeeman Mike D’Elia were also in attendance.

this is what parnassah network does a whole day!!!!!why they not there?
When the Lieutenant Governor comes to a town and gives out her cell phone number to all present that says it all. The sincerity of each and every presenter and their willingness to de-mystify and cut through the red-tape of what otherwise could be a daunting effort in an engaged and convivial manner as displayed at this event is refreshing. The panel members shatter any perception that government agencies are comprised of aloof and un-committed public servants hamstrung by administrivia. Their commitment was underscored by their obviously honest enthusiasm for each unique program and how they all work together. Having the actual senior managers that are responsible present and be available for one on one discussion was a tremendous opportunity for anyone to accomplish days or weeks worth of research and getting to the right people in less than three hours. This was truly a model event for any government to emulate.
