PHOTOS: Longtime Jackson Police Officer Retires

This afternoon, members of the Jackson police department along with friends and family of Police Officer John “Pojo” Pejoski #202 gathered at police headquarters for a walk out ceremony as Officer Pejoski retired after more than 25 years as a police officer with the department.

Officer Pejoski began his law enforcement career in 1988 as a Jackson Police Explorer and in 1992 became a Jackson Police Auxiliary Officer. In March 1994, he was hired by the Seaside Heights Police Department as a Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer. He then graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy’s 64th Basic Police Officer Class and worked as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer in Seaside Heights until March 1997 when he was hired as a Class II Officer with the Jackson Police Department. In April 1997, he was appointed as a full time officer with JPD.

Officer Pejoski worked patrol in the Uniformed Services Division before becoming one of the department’s School Resource Officers (SRO) where he became well respected while working in the Township’s schools and interacting with the students.

During his career he assisted at Ground Zero after 9/11, was selected as the Jackson P.B.A. Member of the year in 2004, the Jackson Police Services Division Officer of the Year in 2019 and most recently was voted as the SRO of the month by the National Association of School Resource Officers.
