A local fire scene photographer, Ryan Mack, sprang into action today, rescuing a man from drowning in Seaside Park, he told TLS.
“I just happened to be in the area of O Street Beach following several earlier drowning calls in the water when I heard the call over the radio,” Mack recounted. “I grabbed my water gear from my car, climbed up the sand dunes, and had a clear view of the man in the water. Instinctively, I ran towards the ocean with my life vests and swam out to him. He was foaming at the mouth and barely staying afloat. I kept his head above water, and within a few minutes, the Seaside Heights FD water rescue team arrived with their jet ski and pulled us both from the water.”
Mack is a 29-year-old Point Pleasant Beach resident known for filming surfers and fire scenes in Lakewood and the Ocean County area and runs the popular YouTube channel Jersey Shore Fire Response.
“Usually, I’m the one photographing these heroes at work. I never thought I’d use my surfing experience to save someone’s life,” he told TLS.
Thank you Officer
I’ve always enjoyed Mike’s work! His videos are great! It’s amazing that he’s typically the “first” responder on location! He’s also an expert thermal drone operator, which are used to assist firefighters battling large blazes!
Ryan’s* work!
