All too often in today’s world all we hear is negativity about police officers.
But to the children at The Learning Experience of Jackson, police officers are their heroes and role models – especially because one of the children is a daughter of a Lakewood police officer.
In response to the recent police shootings and tragic events, the students created handprint crafts with the thin blue line, and gave the officers survival kits – which included special candy treats.
“The children then presented the officers with their gifts, took a few pictures and with their sweet angelic voices they thanked the officers and asked them to stay safe,” said the staff. The officers were kind enough to bring them police badge stickers and coloring books, and even turned on their lights and sirens while giving them a close-up look of a squad car.

Many playgroups and daycares teach about community helpers. This really brings the message home to the children. Respect and revere those who protect us. Somewhere this precept got lost. Good job.
