PHOTOS: LFD Station 68 gives special Tower Ladder Demonstration

From the LFD: The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners and Fire Chief Mike D’Elia Jr. commend the members of the Lakewood Fire Department, especially those of Station 68 under the command of Captain Mark Rios, who took a break from ladder training to provide a presentation of the LFD Tower Ladder to Lazer Galperin.

Lazer, who lives in Israel and came to the United States to undergo reconstructive surgery at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia after suffering 3rd-degree burns over 80 percent of his body, made a special visit to the Fire Station on Sunday, August 6, 2017.

The members of the Lakewood Fire Department enthusiastically described and demonstrated the capabilities of the Tower Ladder as well as the complexities and intricacies of its operation to Lazer.

Lazer’s visit to Station 68, on Cedarbridge Avenue, was arranged by Fire Commissioner Avi Lieber.
