BBQ Attendee Shocked to Learn ‘Heroes’ Appreciation BBQ’ “Had No Hero Sandwiches!”
Upon arriving at a ‘Heroes Appreciation BBQ’ event on Thursday, Lakewood resident, Alex Grillman, was shocked to learn that the BBQ – dedicated to Lakewood’s First Responders and other local heroes – “had absolutely no ‘Hero Sandwiches’ on the menu!”
“There were all kinds of sandwiches being served,” Mr. Grillman said, “but not one ‘Hero sandwich’! That doesn’t make much sense at all! It’s a slap in the stomach of every hero who deserved to be honored with giant-sized ‘Hero sandwiches’ instead of the usual medium-sized sandwiches.”
Mr. Grillman told reporters that, upon assessing the dire situation, he quickly drove off to the local bakery and picked up “some of the largest submarine-rolls known to mankind!”
“I then returned to the event and prepared giant, five-feet-long hero sandwiches for the heroes,” Mr. Grillman said.
“Well,” he added, “heroism has its limits, because in the end, several of the heroes had to be treated for heartburn, acid indigestion and upset stomachs.”
