PHOTOS: Hundreds of Syrian families from around Lakewood joined yesterday in a joyous celebration of the Shalom family Sefer Torah dedication.
The event, hosted by Rabbi Nessim Shalom, founder and assistant Rabbi of the Sephardic Congregation of Lakewood, (Ohel Shulamit) took place in Pine River estates.
Beginning at 12:30 p.m., Syrian Yungileit, Rabbis and lay leaders came to bid their well wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shalom, donors of the Sefer Torah and senior benefactors of Ohel Shulamit.
Following the writing of the final Oisiois a lively procession made its way to the Shul (currently located on Sharon court) accompanied by festive music and dancing. The day’s festivities commenced with Divrei Bracha from Rabbi Shlomo Malka, Rav of Ohel Shulamit and Rabbi Nessim Shalom.
