A restaurant in Lakewood was severely damaged in the fire this evening, officials say.
The fire broke out approximately 11 PM at the corner of 4th Street and Lexington Avenue.
Smoke was seen coming out of the restaurant, prompting the evacuations of the apartments upstairs.
The fire was brought under control a short time later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
