pcPHOTOS: Meridian Health this past week officially celebrated the opening of Lakewood Primary Care, its first local primary and immediate health care facility.

Lakewood Primary is led by Doctors, Cynthia Genovese and Elizabeth Salcedo who both jointly participated in the official ribbon cutting of the new office. Genovese and Salcedo are both Board Certified in family medicine and internal medicine respectively.

The facility presently offers a wide variety of health services for patients aged seven and above. Services range from the simplest annual physical exam to treatment of diabetes, ear irrigations hypothyroidism and vision screening. Onsite EKG monitoring and help with osteoarthritis and various services for skin services are also available.

The office is located at the corner of Route 9 and Locust Street, making it convenient for residents south of the lake. As Mr. Dean Lin, President of Ocean Medical Center notes, they are also gearing up to open the after hours immediate care services wherein they will be accepting patients without an appointment from the hours of 5pm-10pm Monday Through Friday and from 9am-9pm on weekends. In addition, the facility is affiliated with Ocean Medical with the ability to transfer patient data directly into the hospital’s system.

Mr. Lin also explained that the facility will house an onsite coordinator to help people sign up for Obamacare plans should they need assistance.

“We know that primary care is going to be a big part of the health system going forward,” Mr. Lin stated, referring to the impending and present legislative changes. “The Government has mandated health care, but the law does not increase the accessibility of this care… With this facility, Meridian Health is filling that need.”

Mayor Menashe Miller, who attended on behalf of the Township also delivered an official proclamation to Mr. Lin in recognition of the great service that Meridian and Ocean Medical provide for Lakewood.

In addition to primary care, Brick Hospital is planning to open its brand new state of the art emergency room within the next few months. With LPC open, Meridian Health and Ocean Medical have greatly increased the accessibility of quality healthcare for Lakewood residents.

The event was also attended by numerous askanim and Lakewood volunteers involved in the medical field as well as general members of the Ocean Medical staff. [TLS-Provided by the Lakewood Shopper]
