A Lakewood liquor store was destroyed in an early-morning blaze.
At about 2 AM, police officers noticed smoke coming from the Best Liquors shop, located at 120 Ocean Avenue.
A General Alarm was dispatched, and upon arrival, the building was well involved, and a 2nd alarm was requested for additional manpower, officials say.
Mutual aid was called in from Brick and Jackson.
The building partially collapsed in the fire.
One person suffered minor injuries after slipping on ice at the scene, officials told TLS.
The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
What does a second alarm do? I’m glad everyone was safe.
Where will all the unemployed go for their liquor at 10am??
A “Second Alarm” calls for more units and man power to assist when there is a large incident. This can be in the form of mutual aid from surrounding townships who send additional units and crews to assist in battling the fire.
A 2nd alarm requests additional firefighter and apparatus from surrounding towns.
In case you are concerned several towns have this type of response plan. With volunteers scarce on certain times of the day’s and nights, we can depend on our surrounding towns coming in and helping. And we do the same for them when they call we go
Kudos to the Lakewood Fire Department for all their hard work! Their career and volunteer firefighters are on call 24/7 year round for you – the residents of Lakewood.
They certainly deserve your vote in 2 weeks to keep them strong and show them you got their backs.
Vote for me for Board of Fire Commissioners to ensure that the fire department stays healthy and strong amidst a positive and healthy board of fire commissioners. Let’s not gyp these emergency service men.
Say no to those who think we need to cut the financial backing of OUR fire department. Make an informed vote.
I wonder how much $ of alcohol was lost:(
Hey Planning Board, now is your chance to NOT let them rebuild as it was but make them set back so that RT 88 can be widened in the future. I know it is a State road , but you can help, do something!
A Second Alarm brings more Manpower and more resources
