Members of the Lakewood High School Boys baseball team and coaching staff traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico last week to train and compete against high level teams.
Many of the students traveled out of the country for the first time and had the opportunity to not only play at a higher level to prepare them for their High School season, but they also had the experience of bonding with team members and being a part of the Lakewood High School family.
The team members paid their own expenses to travel, while many community members, staff, family and friends assisted with donations. One of the sponsors, was Attorney Michael Inzelbuch.
For many of these students it will be the only time in their lives they have an opportunity to travel and experience this type of team function.
Good luck!
Great opportunity for the students. However, one correction needs to be made to this article. No one left the country, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States.
“Many of the students traveled out of the country for the first time”
Puerto Rico is not out of the country… not out of this country at least.
Congratulations and lots of luck.
Pine pride!
