PHOTOS: Lakewood Hatzolah celebrates inauguration of new first response vehicle

Last night, Hatzolah of Lakewood held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony inaugurating a new paramedic first response vehicle, to be known as Medic 2.

The vehicle was generously donated by Mr. & Mrs. Shaya Ackerman and Mr. & Mrs. Eli Frankel. The dedication was followed by a beautiful reception attended by local dignitaries, Hatzolah members and the Raintree community members, who came to show their support and appreciation.

Hatzolah is the only private ambulance service in the state of New Jersey that has a paramedic program. This critical program has saved countless lives in our community, and as our community continues to grow and expand, Hatzolah needs more and more resources to keep us all safe. This vehicle will be responding to all paramedic calls in Raintree and its surrounding areas. The new Tahoe is equipped with lights, sirens and cabinetry to hold important lifesaving medications and advanced equipment such as LifePak 15.

Horav Noach Witty, Shilta, Rav of K’hal Yaakov Akiva Raintree, highlighted the evening stating: “In last week’s parsha, Avraham Aveinu, through all the challenges; the third day since his bris millah, Hashem removing the sun from its sheath, the oppressive heat and more, Avraham sought the opportunity to implant the trait of chessed in his descendants. What better personification of this is there than each and every Hatzolah member?” he continued, drawing the obvious parallel. “Hatzolah memebers dedicate themselves 24/7, 365 days a year to being constantly available to perform the most amazing chessed of saving lives at a moment’s notice.”

Rabbi Witty also praised the foresight of Mr. & Mrs. Shaya Ackerman and Mr. & Mrs. Eli Frankel for investing in such a worthy cause, one that will continue to save lives and make a difference for years to come.

It is no secret that our community has grown at a record pace over the past decade, and continues to do so. Hatzolah’s coverage area is now almost triple what it was just a few years ago and is still widening. Hatzolah desperately needs to put another such vehicle into service to benefit the southern side of Lakewood, among many other purchases, upgrades and improvements that are needed.

Over the next few months, Hatzolah will be embarking on a major expansion campaign looking to other generous members of our community for much needed support. If you would like to dedicate a vehicle, LifePak or other critical equipment, please contact Rabbi Avrohom Waxman at 732-363-5600.
