PHOTOS: Lakewood Fire Department Holds Training Exercise

The Lakewood Fire Department today participated in a Bail Out class at the firehouse at 800 Monmouth Ave.

15 members received initial Bail Out Training which consists of classroom instruction as well as a written test. They then went out to the Bail Out prop to practice what they learned.

Other participating members who had already received the initial training, joined in to complete their required 4 jumps yearly to remain certified in the correct deployment and use of the system, in which they carry in their gear in case they need to bail out of a building in dire circumstances.

Other training sessions are scheduled through Wednesday night to meet the schedules of the volunteer and career staff.

“It’s incredible to see the hard work both our career and volunteer firefighters are putting in to keep the Lakewood community safe. Kudos to them for their professionalism and selflessness,” Lakewood Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr told TLS.

“These members are giving up their off-days to train how to better serve the community. That’s sacrifice,” Deputy Chief Steve Mulholland added.
