The Lakewood Fire Department this evening held a reorganization ceremony, which included the swearing-in of six new career firefighters and the promotion of four firefighters to Lieutenant.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the reorganization of Engine Company #1, transitioning from a volunteer company to a career company.
Chief Yahr addressed the crowd and spoke about the rich history of Engine Company #1 and how it has transformed the Lakewood Fire Department since its founding in 1888.
During the event, the Lakewood Township Committee presented a proclamation to the fire department, recognizing their dedication and service to the community.
In attendance were local, county, and state officials, as well as family members and friends of the department personnel.
The firefighters promoted to Lieutenant are Patrick Ortiz, Daniel Prodoehl, John Sonner, and Kevin Brink.
The newly sworn-in career firefighters are Dimitri L. Santos, Justin P. Carlsen, Tyler Decker, Devin N. Angelos, Chad S. Butler, and Nickolas R. Colailo.
The event took place at the Engine Company #1 Firehouse on First Street.
