[VIDEO BELOW] A home in Lakewood was severely damaged in a fire this afternoon, as first reported on our news alerts.

At about 1:20 PM, the Lakewood Fire Department toned out a general alarm after receiving reports of a home on Albert Avenue. Upon arrival, police and firefighters found heavy smoke billowing from the home, and received reports of a person possibly trapped inside.

After making entry and searching the home, it was determined nobody was inside the home.

The fire was brought under control a short time later.

All of Lakewood’s Stations responded to the call, as well as mutual aid from Herbertsville Fire Department.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
