Some of Lakewood’s emergency responders were honored today for their heroic life-saving efforts acts during the massive apartment building blaze in Lakewood.
The heroes were honored during the annual brunch hosted by the Lakewood Fire Department.
Immediately upon arriving to the scene of the September 29 blaze, first responders – including police officers, firefighters Hatzolah and EMS members – ran into the large apartment building in search of trapped parties. The emergency personnel managed to help all the residents escape, but not before some of them suffered from smoke inhalation.
Multiple police officers, firefighters and EMS members needed to be treated, and several were hospitalized.
The blaze was one of the largest in Lakewood’s recent history.
