By: L. Halevi. This past Tuesday evening, a huge crowd of hundreds of Lakewood residents, as well as visitors from outside of Lakewood, filled the Tiferes Simcha Hall, to participate in a historic event to benefit the holy Mosad, Reb Meir Bal Hanes Kolel Shomrei Hachomos.

Roshei Yeshivos, Rabbanim and Askanim joined throngs of people from across Lakewood who came to participate in this special event. The guest speaker, rav Ahrom Weinberger dynamically captured the crowd’s attention with his beautiful Divrei Torah and Chizuk. Divrei Bracha was also delivered by Rav Mordechai Betzalel Klein, Satmar Dayan of Lakewood.

Following the speakers, the highlight of the evening was a live video hookup into the home of Maran Posek Hador, Rav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita, who responded to a variety of questions, on an array of topics, submitted by residents of Lakewood. The Ra’avad answered questions in both Yiddish and English, and it was truly remarkable to watch him respond to question after question virtually without pausing to think, effortlessly reaching into his vast knowledge of Kol Hatorah Kulah with Marei Mekomos all over Shas and Poskim, Halacha, Agadah and Drush, to answer every question with clarity and precision.

There wasn’t a sound in the hall as the crowd was mesmerizes by the Ra’avad’s delivery of Da’as Torah, followed by his short Divrei Bracha in honor of Kolel Shomrei Hachomos, an organization that he personally supports and encourages others to support as well.

The dinner also honored R’ Shmuel Dov Bernath, a Shomrei Hachomos Gabbai, and a grandson of R’ Eliezer Moshe Bernath, a member of the Shomrei Hachomos Va’ad and a staunch supporter of the Mosad, in whose memory the dinner was dedicated. R’ Shmuel Dov’s father, R’ Yehoshua Bernath, also delivered warm wards at the dinner.

It was truly a remarkable display of Kidush Hashem and Kavod Hatorah as the residents of Lakewood came together, B’Achdus, to support Acheinu Bnei Yisroel in need.
