PHOTOS: Joint Base MDL Sends 70,000 lbs of Equipment and Relief Supplies to Nepal

1The 305th Air Mobility Wing from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst responded to the devastating earthquake in Nepal with aircraft and crews carrying humanitarian relief supplies into the area to aid in recovery efforts.

A C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft, flown by members of the 6th Airlift Squadron assigned to MDL flew down the road to Dover AFB and the 436th Airlift Wing to load approximately 70,000 pounds of equipment and relief supplies from the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team. The 69 members of the Fairfax County USAR team were also transported to Nepal on our C-17 aircraft.

“Just to add more MDL love to this amazing mission, one KC-10 Extender aircraft, operated by members of the 32d Air Refueling Squadron, provided inflight refueling to the C-17 and off-loaded fuel in support of recovery efforts,” said the Joint Base.
