With wars raging in Ukraine, the Gaza Strip, and elsewhere, and the escalating threat of nuclear war, nonviolent methods to settle conflict have become essential to human survival.

The War Resisters League (WRL) Traveling Exhibit: “One Hundred Years of Nonviolent Resistance To War and the Causes of War,” will be on display February 12-23, 2024 at Georgian Court University’s SMJC Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public and narrated tours will be conducted by Dr. Scott H. Bennett, Professor and Chair of the History Department.

For more than 100 years, WRL has resisted war and sought to remove the causes of war on a global scale, including militarism, racism, sexism, and all forms of exploitation. WRL and its members have led and participated in social movements for peace, civil rights, civil liberties, feminism, the environment and more. Members and allies have included Albert Einstein, Jeannette Rankin, Martin Luther King, Jr., Bayard Rustin, Joan Baez, Grace Paley, and Catholic pacifists Dorothy Day and Daniel and Philip Berrigan.

The SMJC Library at Georgian Court University is located at 900 Lakewood Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. For information about exhibit tours email Dr. Scott H. Bennett at [email protected].
