PHOTOS: Hundreds Get Free Tfillin Assistance from ‘Hanacha K’Halacha’

PHOTOS: Continuing a ‘revolution’ in creating an awareness to the many issues men have with their almost daily Mitzvas Tefillin, Hanacha K’Halacha, (also known as the Tefillin Awareness Project), has continued to forge ahead untiringly to service the Klal.

This past Friday, after a special Bein Hazmanim program in the Agudah of Avenue L in Flatbush, four Sofrim serviced approximately 500 men and bochurim from 7:00 am until 11:30 am. The program was brought to Lakewood two days later, on Sunday morning, April 7.

Rav Yisroel Zucker, the Posek of Kollel Ner Avrohom in Lakewood told Avrohom B. Schachter, the director and founder of this project, “what took place this morning was a true inspiration and it gave everyone present much chizuk.”

The¬†Kesharim of the Tefillin shel yad of many individuals needed adjustments as well as other corrections. One of the Soifrim gave a brief shiur describing general tefillin halachos, tefillin issues that came up that morning, and took questions from the participants. R’ Duvie Tennenbaum and Rabbi Avrohom Carlbach of KNA skillfully organized the program and were amazed at the results.

Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen has said, “even Yidden who are scrupulously observant in every area of their lives, are often unable to fulfill this basic mitzvah properly.”

“This great mitzvah, mitzvas Tefillin, has been restored to thousands of yidden because of the mesiras nefesh, the ahavas yisroel and the ahavas HaShem of the oskim betzorchei tzibbur of a handful of tzadikim,” are the words of Rav Aharon Kahn, mora d’asra of Knesses Bais Avigdor.

To date, over 175 shuls and yeshivas have enjoyed and reaped the tremendous benefits of this program.

In short, what takes place? Tables are prepared with colored posters, ink markers, and an assortment of different Tefillin related items. Free tefillin mirrors are distributed. Kesharim of the Rosh and Yad are adjusted. Retzuos and Batim are measured with special tools, some are blackened or changed, and professional advice is offered by the experienced Soifrim, most of whom have been with this program from the onset, six years ago.
