PHOTOS: Hundreds attend Amerigroup Health Fair in Lakewood

Amid ongoing changes with NJ Family Care, over 500 people attended Amerigroup’s health fair held yesterday in Lakewood.

The event took place at Pediatric Affiliates’ 4th and Madison location.

Amerigroup professionals were on hand to address questions regarding their NJ Family Care benefits and extras, as well as its doctor network here in Lakewood and beyond.

Kids were treated with snacks, drinks and fun-filled activities, including face painting, and were even given tours of a Lakewood Hatzolah ambulance and its life saving equipment.

Amerigroup will be back with the same team and activities (including the ambulance) this coming Sunday, June 23, from 11am to 1pm.

Healthcare is so important in our lives and I was there as well. They seem really accessible and all the execs there were giving their cards with their phone numbers. Their network here seems great. My doctor said they’re growing by leaps and bounds as United is creating much damage here.

I’m still with Untied and not sure what to do. Amerigroup seems in touch with Lakewood but I’m still not sure. I know United won’t be be around for long here so we need to make a switch before that happens.

Letoeles Harabim. Please find out more. I was at a Dentist for my children and they told me that many of the better groups that do Oral surgery etc, (anything a regular dentist will send you for) do Not take Amerigroup and do take other HMO’s.

If your child needs speech therapy their coverage is very limited. Aetna is more generous with their therapy.

Aside for not being able to use dr shanik and receiving speech therapy I don’t see what other issues there are with United healthcare.
I think I will stay with United since dentists, hospitals, specialists are all taking it.

Was a really nice event. I just really wish they could convince my dentist to accept them.

Aetna is dumping money in Therapy now like United used to do and they’ll come after every dollar once they realize that the Lakewood therapy usage is not manageable besides, their local network is horrible. United won’t be here in Lakewood for much longer. They terminated w CHOP only to renegotiate a “temp” deal, terminated w Shank and others and will continue down this road until they’re gone. I don’t see a better option than Amerigroup, they have a good dental and specialist network, contrary to previous comment.

Dr. SHANIK,
Please, it’s still not too late to reach an agreement with United.

My dentist is only taking Aetna and my OB is only taking Amerigroup.

Yaakov, think about this, is there a person in the world who cares more about our children than Dr Shanik???? He terminated with United because he knew that they are not a long-term solution for Lakewoood. They are ruining the lives of Lakewood therapists and don’t care about Lakewood, it can’t be more obvious. Shanik tried a million times to work it out w them but they are awol. They’re not interested in Lakewood. Was good while it lasted. Hasta la vista

After speaking with every leading medical leading organization here in Lakewood, with my pediatrician, and therapist, I will be switching to Amerigroup.

Aetna is not dumping therapy irresponsibly as United Healthcare has done. United healthcare had unlimited could of been 365 times a year without questions. Any insurance company that has that will fall apart. Aetna has an organized system where speech needs to be requested it’s ysually approved at an average of twice a week. As a provider for Anerigrouo and Aetna, Amerigroup is not organized at the billing end. Very inconsistent with reimbursement.

My therapist is happy with Amerigroup. She has a friend that isn’t but she blames it on her inability to bill professionally due to her free yielding billing habits all the years w United. Personally, my pediatrician, OB and anyone else we use accepts Amerigroup and we’re happy.
