A reported hostage situation prompted the response of Lakewood’ SWAT Team this morning, officials say.Earlier this morning, Officers Jeffrey Emmons and Caitlyn Kicki were sent to a Kennedy Blvd apartment in response to an alleged hostage situation.
At approximately 3:15 am, a woman walked into headquarters and reported that she received a text message from a relative stating that she was the victim of domestic violence and was being held against her will at her friend’s apartment.
“Officers responded to the Kennedy Blvd Apartment but were unable to make contact with any of the occupants,” said Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith. “That prompted the response of the Lakewood Police Special Response Team, as well as Crisis Negotiators, Sgt.’s Robert and Jeannette Shimonovich. Also responding was the Ocean County Prosecutor’ Office.”
At approximately 6:30 am, the 30-year-old female emerged, unharmed, from the apartment.
At this time the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Eric Cicerello at 732-363-0200 ext. 5344
UPDATE: “After further investigation conducted by Det. Eric Cicerello and Officer Alex Guzman, the 30 year old alleged victim, identified as Evelia Morales of Lakewood, has been charged with the second degree crime of circulating a False Report involving a hostage situation.”

She should have to pay the cost of bringing out the SWAT team and the rest of the force, as well as make restitution to the businesses that were harmed by the large police presence in the AM hours!!
