The heroic bus driver who rescued a Jackson child who had fallen asleep on her bus and woke up in an empty bus lot was honored this evening by the Jackson School District Board of Education meeting.
As exclusively reported by TLS early this month, Ms. Lea (Shelly) Johnson found the six-year old roaming in the school bus lot, and waited with her until her mother arrived.
In recognition of her heroic deed, the Board of Education presented a plaque to Ms. Johnson, as her proud family looked on.
The day following the incident, the parents of the child honored Ms. Johnson by bringing her a gift basket.

We’re so proud of you Miss Shelly! Thank you for being our #1 bus driver, we’re so lucky to have you drive our girls route every day
Wow….amazing keep up the great work
