PHOTOS: First ‘Toms River’ Strong, now ‘Chestnut Strong’?

chestnut strong 1One neighborhood in Lakewood is capitalizing on a contentious lawn sign message from neighboring towns – and for a good cause.

If you drive around the Chesnut area, you’ll see a bunch of garden signs which say ‘Chestnut Strong’. But unlike the ‘real’ ‘strong’ signs suggest, they’re not trying to make a statement about taking a stance against selling their homes, or neighborhoods.

Instead, if you take a closer look alongside the sign, you’ll notice the small letters ‘LakewoodStrong’ – which takes you to the Chestnut Shul’s donation page.

  1. Oh how clever! There ain’t no bad publicity when it comes to fundraising for charities so why not take full advantage of a controversial issue. Maybe folks will mix everything up and start donating money to Toms River’s and Jackson’s shuls as well, how would that be for payback?

  2. Awful idea! Take them down!! Whichever smarty pants thought to do this should understand the ramifications it may have if the message is unclear to others just driving by. Awful awful!!
